Product photography for e-commerce sites turns out to be one of the most “in demand” requests as more retailers jump onto the web to sell their products.
What more could a girl (or guy) ask for than a few pairs of Steve Madden shoes? These beauties are from an exclusive line of products originating in the US. And, lucky for us, available across South Africa.
Steve Madden SA approached me to photograph a few of their products for their website launch and so I jumped at the opportunity to work with such a high-quality brand.
While product photography might look simple, especially when shot for e-commerce sites, there’s a ton of work that goes into the project behind the scenes. This is to allow the customer to view their favourites online and to make an informed purchase.
From lighting, backdrops, camera equipment, and all the necessary clips and hoists, to the endless hours in post-production. I find this type of photography to be of the most involved.
It can also be very rewarding, though. When you have a final product that portrays such beauty, it makes my job totally worth while.
I often find myself driving around town collecting products from the Steve Madden head office or one of their stores. I then set up my studio to be 100% perfect and spend hours placing and correcting the products.
All of this is to ensure that we have crisp and professional imagery to portray the brand in its best light.
So, take a look at their newly launched e-commerce site here. And, remember, it’s not just shoes, they have a whole range of other gorgeous products available.
