Hello, I’m Kandi. Thank you for visiting my site today. I’m a full time photographer from beautiful Johannesburg, wife to Wayne, and (almost) constant companion to our three crazy animals. My life revolves around coffee and reading, spending time on our fly fishing farm and with family. I dream of traveling more, both locally and abroad, and of being famous one day – I don’t know yet for what, so send me some ideas.
The idea of becoming a photographer came to me after our 3 week European honeymoon. I was going through our photos and, while they came out beautifully (on auto setting, of course), I thought that I could learn to do this properly. So, I signed up and completed my first diploma in 2012. I haven’t been able to stop since.
In 2016 I took the big leap from my safe, reliable and regular-paying corporate job into nothingness and have faced huge challenges working for myself. But I’ve grown so much more than I could ever have envisaged. I’ve met amazing people, gained tons of knowledge (with tons more to go), and never looked back.
I’ve completed another diploma in photography, graphic design and advanced Photoshop, and am have more cued up as we speak. I’ve spent more quality time at home and with family, had to say goodbye to our beautiful cat, Jack Sparrow, and taken to nail art – please don’t think this will become a career move, I fail regularly.
To me, photography is about more than using your technical knowledge to get the right shot. It’s about meeting new people and hearing their story, and using that as a basis from which to capture their images. I want to showcase emotion and entice feeling with my photography. And, to date, I’m lucky to have had wonderful experiences to look back on.
That’s enough about me, now I’d really like to hear your story.
